This painting was created for a dear friend's nursery. She wanted something to tie in the meaning of her son's first name (Caleb--whole hearted; faithful) and middle name (which was that of her grandfather). Her grandfather's love of the great outdoors inspired the subject of the painting.
Caleb's nickname is 'Wild Man', and this painting couldn't suit him better! The painting transitioned nicely into his 'big boy' room once he outgrew his nursery.
Blush + Birds
I created this painting when I was dreaming up nurseries in blush and gold! I found some pretty patterned scrapbook paper and a few cute bedding patterns for inspiration. I can picture this painting hanging in a nursery beside these large flowers (from Target) on the right!
Storyteller was created for my son's nursery, and inspired by Morgan Harper Nichols' song, Storyteller. You can read more about the story behind the painting here.
This is a mixed-media piece created with both acrylics and watercolor.
Birds + Psalm 91:11
This painting will always be special to me because it was one of the very first nursery paintings I ever created. My client was pregnant with her second child; a baby girl. She had a vision for a custom piece of artwork that would tie in a special Bible verse, the nursery colors and a special flowered lamp shade she had purchased for the room.
The painting features a damask pattern in the background which matched the nursery wall color and bedding pattern. The flight of the sweet little bird spells out the Bible verse, Psalm 91:11. The painting has transitioned well into this sweet girls 'big girl' room and remains a special piece of art in their home.
Birds of a Feather
Acrylic on canvas.
This painting is actually a puzzle, made for a sweet friend and her husband as they awaited the placement of their precious daughter. The painting was inspired by the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" and the family's passion and talent for all things musical.
This painting is really special and has quite a story! I originally painted it and auctioned it off to raise money for our first adoption. I didn't know it, but some of my co-workers bid on it to buy it back for me!
At the same time, my best friend was pregnant with her second child--a sweet baby girl named Abigail. She had eyed the painting at the auction but was unable to get the winning bid.
When the painting ended up back in my possession, I knew that it was meant to be my friend, Gentry's. When I saw it above Abigail's crib for the first time, I knew it had found its home. I originally titled the painting Golden Slumbers after one of my favorite Beatles songs. Once it became Abigail's, Wonderfully Made just seemed more fitting.
You Are My Sunshine
This custom piece was inspired by and painted for my niece, Harper. She requested a "unicorn on a beach" painting for her 8th birthday and I happily obliged. Acrylic on canvas.
Gifts From Above
This painting has a unique story behind it, as it was the second nursery painting I created for this client. She wanted to use the same bedding as she used with her first-born daughter (owl artwork pictured at bottom) but wanted something different and personalized for the new baby girl. The challenge was keeping the same color scheme and similar patterns, but creating something completely different!
When she told me that she wanted to incorporate James 1:17, "Every good and perfect gift is from above," we found our direction...hot air balloons! The mini pennant banner served as a great way to tie in the baby's name, and on the banner floating by the balloon (bottom right) we incorporated the date of her arrival (the day was added in after the photo was taken). This was also the first (and only) painting I made where glitter was involved, as it was the perfect girly addition to the clouds.
